Alex Black
Head Coach
Coach Alex Black swam competitively for Southern Methodist University, a Top 10 NCAA Division I swimming program in Dallas, Texas. There, he collected a B.A. in communications (Cinema), a B.A. in English (Creative Writing) and a minor in Studio Art. He earned varsity letters swimming for the SMU Mustangs, and was a Western Athletic Conference finalist. A native of Lewisville, NC, he attended 13 years (K-12) and graduated from Forsyth Country Day School where he was an All American in the Breaststroke and Butterfly, and State Champion in each for four years. He also swam with the Winston-Salem YMCA at Y Nationals and was a USA Swimming Junior Nationals Finalist and USA Swimming Sr. Nationals qualifier.
Coach Alex is currently a Life Member of the American Swim Coach's Association (ASCA) and holds ASCA Level 4 certification. He has coached all levels of swimmers from age group neophytes to senior National Qualifiers during his stints at the Dallas Mustangs Swim Club and the Goldsboro YMCA. He has also coached high school swimmers who achieved All American status. He has been on the coaching staff of the NC Zone Team on four occasions as Asst. Manager, 15-18 Girls Coach, 13-14 Boys Coach, Head Coach and most recently as the 15-18 Boys Coach.
