Founded in August, 2009 by The Gateway YWCA and Coach Alex Black, the Sea Dragon Swim Team is presently the only year-round team in Winston-Salem that can offer such a low swimmer-to-coach ratio led by a coach who swam at a Top-10 NCAA Division I University.
The team mission and purpose of the Sea Dragon swim program is to provide a superior competitive swimming experience for the developing and senior level athlete. This program is based on the ideals of fun, fitness and the opportunity for each individual to reach his or her maximum physical, intellectual, social and emotional potential.
All of our coaches have access to the most comprehensive training and certification program for youth coaches of any sport in the United States. Certified by ASCA (the American Swim Coaches Association), the coaches provide assurance that the time children spend in swimming will be quality time.
